This is Style Counsel, a fortnightly newsletter I build for Men's Health (click to enlarge). It is pretty and you
should subscribe to it.

Sometimes in this
business, you need to get your hands a little dirty. If there is ever a
time to get that cliché out of the locker, then it's for my review of
'The Grim Challange', a thoroughly mucky trail event held on an army
tank test facility. Taken from the April 2011 edition of Runner's World. (Click to

I've started contributing to Project,
the new magazine launched by Richard Branson exclusively for iPad. The
feature above is about the Jaguar CX75, a concept car powered in part
by two jet engines. Yes, jet engines. See more about the magazine and
download it here.
One of the main reasons why it feels like I've boarded more flights
than I've had hot dinners in 2010 is Travel
360,
the TV show I have started presenting. The polar bear-slaying carbon
footprint and meals served à la plastic rectangular tray have all been
worthwile though, as Series 1 is now airing on The Travel Channel (Sky
251). I'm in four episodes, and you can find out more about the series here.
During World Cup 2010, I was commissioned to write daily stories for
Yahoo's US excellent football hub, Dirty Tackle.
Not only was the assignment enjoyable, but it reached a tremendous
audience: the site averaged 3.35million viewers per day
during the tournament, and several of my posts attracted over 3,000
comments. (One would think that there wouldn't be much to say after a
few hundred comments, but who am I to argue?)
Additionally, I have started writing features for the magazine
published by the fine watch retailer TIME². Horological connoisseurs
should head here to take a look.

Kensrue, Please Come Home
Not only did the Czech city of Cesky Krumlov provide the picturesque backdrop
to Ed Norton film The Illusionist,
but it was also one of the absurdly cold destinations we visited to
film the first episode of Travel 360.
I'll be presenting three additional shows for the series, which will
air on The Travel Channel later this year. I'll post some video soon.

Back
in the heady days of 2007 - when the world was yet to embrace Swine
flu, Usain Bolt's arrogant excellence and a non-ironic
appreciation of Journey's 'Don't Stop Believin'' - I became launch
editor of sports entertainment website The Spoiler. The site became a
huge success in the cultish world of online football blogs, and was
recognised by the BBC, The Guardian and The Telegraph for its sideways
glance at the beautiful game. This week, I discovered that TS was deemed worthy of inclusion
in Sports Illustrated'sBlogs of the Decade list. A surprising and very
pleasing accolade from the behemoth American sports and bikini-clad
supermodel purveyors.
2010 looks to be equally exciting as the noughties proved to be. In
addition to my work at Men's Health
- officially the UK's best-selling men's magazine - I've been signed up
us a presenter on The Travel Channel. I'll be fronting a show called
'Travel 360', which will see me take in the sights and sounds of the
Czech Republic, Spain, Holland and Norway in series one. I'll post more
info when I have it.

It's 'Boys
week' on Kickette, which means some of the
interweb's finest male football writers have been in control of a
domain usually reserved for ladyfolk. Representing my
football news website The Spoiler, I've made a few contributions over the past
five days.
